Political Science: Why i hate that I love it?

Before I start this blog I just want to start it off by asking the question, What is political science?, for the people who are clueless on what it is. Political science is a social science which particularly is a study of government, public policies, political systems, processes and political behaviour. Some sub field of political science is political theory, political ideology and political philosophy.

To me, the best way to describe why I have such a fascination on topics that relate to political science is because political science is like my muse. Especially, when you get into those never ending heated debate or discussions on those topics(e.g abortion, Child soldiers, Christian Fundamentalism etc) were people can never come up with a resolution but the conversation alone was SO interesting, were you just don't want to talk about anything else. It's funny because I remember a discussion that I had with my friend a few nights ago and we were talking about the mortality of getting organs from the black market.

Well, with me I am very up front and an opinionated person and i sat there and i was like "hell no, why are we taking organs from people who probably been murdered by some psycho who is selling their body parts and making illegal and unlawfully money. Do you think that is right or fair?" I can clearly remember my friend saying " well, there is a lot of people in North America and Europe who need organs because our society is very short on human organs, people are not welling to donate. So, getting organs from the black market is benefiting the greater good.". So I sat there looking at him and said " Are you serious, how are you benefiting the greater good if people are getting viciously killed to provide these organs. Do you think it is okay to get organs from people who intentionally killed other people in developing countries like Indian, china, Brazil etc so we a north American and European have organs to give people who need it.". I can tell you, that night was crazy because we all sat there for hour debating on this one issue and nobody wanted to admit that their wrong.

Why I hate that I love political science is that it is something that anyone could have a friendly argument on anything that frustrates them on the world. But, sometimes you are going to find those people who will not necessarily agree with you but at least they should be mature about it, and not hold a grudge because believe me i have meet a lot of people who hold a grudges when you don't agree with them. Also, for me, political science just makes you think outside the box, it makes you question the normality of this world and it's political issues that not a lot of people want to talk about but it is relevant to our everyday life.
